Bill Scagel may be the most famous knife maker of all time. His designs are certainly among the most copied. Doug Noren carries on the Scagel tradition making knives the old fashioned way in Western Michigan. No shop helpers, no mass-produced sheaths. Workmanship, excellence, and dediction to his craft are exemplified by Doug's MasterSmith standing in the Knife Guild. Doug does everything by hand, including making the excellent leather sheath that comes with eath knife.
One detail I will call your attention to: note the hand-rubbed finish with very fine sanding lines that run the length of the blade. Many Scagel-Style makers finish their blades using buffing wheels, and the grind marks will run top-to-bottom of the blade.
